Photography of the Landscape, Heritage and Natural Environment

After graduating in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, Gillian worked for several years in art education at various levels in London, Cumbria and the North of England.  Her training as a sculptor has greatly influenced the way she sees her surroundings.  Photography has always been part of her visual language, and while working in the English Lake District she found the scenery there an increasing inspiration, with the grandeur of the mountains and the play of light which is typical of the area.

Since moving to Pembrokeshire in 1983, she has spent much of her time photographing the landscape and flowers of West Wales as well as other regions of Britain.  She is fascinated by the effect of light across water, the way in which light moulds our countryside and creates the many different moods in our surroundings. She uses traditional cameras and film to create images without manipulation, and is a Licentiate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography.

Work displayed at:

Her own gallery in Spittal (visitors welcome by appointment), from which she produces a wide range of framed photographs and her ‘Portraits of Nature’ and ‘Portraits of Pembrokeshire’ greetings cards.

Gillian has exhibited widely, selling her work from her gallery and from exhibitions.  She also sells her greeting cards through a variety of retail outlets.
