Graham is a landscape and seascape artist and illustrator. Although coloured pencil predominates in his work, he frequently uses a mixture of other media including chalk pastel, watercolour, ink and gouache. He likes to draw things precisely, and works from a combination of his own photographs, sketches, notes and memory. He is an inveterate observer and is fascinated by reflections in water, the effects of light, texture and the natural forms and surfaces of trees and rocks. He is drawn to the features within the landscape as much as the wider view itself.
The spectacular coast and countryside of Pembrokeshire, and in particular the estuary alongside which he lives at Llangwm, provides him with most of his inspiration and ideas.
Graham is a founding member of the United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society (UKCPS), set up in 2003 to gain recognition for the coloured pencil as an acceptable and respectable medium in the art establishment. It now has close on 1,000 members worldwide.
