Traditional paintings in watercolour, oil pastels, oils or inks are transformed into a contemporary cut and layered textile relief technique.  ‘Intaglio Strati’ art quilts and panels often tell stories.  Cut-away areas reveal up to 14 layers of mouthwatering colours and textures in wool, cotton and Indian silk fabrics. Some are embellished by embroidery, strung beads, appliqué and drawn thread work. The contemporary style is akin to dramatic stained glass effects.

Ongoing themes include botanical, figurative and Pembrokeshire seascapes. ‘Diary of an Artist’ series includes ‘Retire to Wear Purple - No Chance!’ art quilt in shot and raw silks. Cynth is also writing a book about her Intaglio Strati technique.

Original artworks, reproduction prints and cards are available as diptychs, triptychs or separately.
