Pip’s paintings fall somewhere between figuration and abstraction. They are concerned with the exploration of inner responses to people and places she knows, and the objects and landscapes in her everyday life. The paintings develop and change as she responds to the form and colour on canvas,. This process has a life of its own, and the finished paintings are built up using many layers of paint.

The unconscious process has always been an important aspect in her work, as it creates the opportunity to explore and communicate emotions and internal states of being, which she considers just as important as the representing of the actual.

Since graduating in 1984, Pip has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Pembrokeshire and southern Ireland.  She gained a postgraduate Diploma in Art Therapy in 1986, and worked as an art therapist for more than 12 years in the NHS.

Pip is also a director of spacetocreate community arts, and over the last six years has worked on a diverse range of visual arts and educational projects as well as teaching painting and drawing classes.
